How to Play: Rules & Objectives
The game begins with the player controlling the white checkers. Understanding the movement and capture rules is key to victory.
- Basic Movement: A simple checker moves one square diagonally forward. Once a checker reaches the opposite back row, it is crowned a "Queen."
- Queen Power: The queen is a powerful piece, able to move diagonally any number of squares, both forward and backward.
- The Core Rule - Mandatory Capture: If you can capture an opponent's piece, you must. This rule defines the aggressive and tactical nature of the game.
- Capturing with a Simple Checker: If your checker is next to an opponent's checker with an empty square immediately behind it, you must jump over it to the vacant space. If after that jump, you are in a position to capture another piece, you must continue the capturing sequence. Simple checkers can capture both forward and backward.
- Capturing with a Queen: The queen captures by jumping over an opponent's piece diagonally and landing on any empty square beyond it in the same line, provided the path is clear. It can also continue a capturing sequence if possible.
You win the game by either capturing all of your opponent's checkers and queens, or by strategically positioning your pieces so that your opponent has no legal moves left on their turn.
